UNICEF's global campaign UNITE FOR CHILDREN, UNITE AGAINST AIDS aims to alert the world that children are the missing face of AIDS.

We have four goals to reach by 2010:

  • Prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission - offer appropriate services to 80 per cent of women in need
  • Provide paediatric treatment - provide intervention treatment to 80 per cent of children in need
  • Prevent infection among adolescents and young people - reduce the percentage of young people living with HIV by 25 per cent globally
  • Protect and support children affected by HIV/AIDS - reach 80 per cent of children most in need

We need the world to recognize the impact of AIDS on children. Every day more than 720 children under the age of 15 die of AIDS-related illnesses, and more than 6,800 people are newly infected with HIV, of which 40 per cent are estimated to be young people. 15.2 million children around the world have been orphaned by AIDS. Millions of these children are deprived of vital medicines, care and support.

You can make a difference. You can draw the line on HIV. With your support our dedicated field workers all over the world can stop the pandemic from spreading to more children. They can ensure that all the children affected by HIV and AIDS are being given the medical, social and psychological support they deserve.

Look around the site and meet some of our field workers.  They are determined to triumph over HIV.  But they urgently need your help.

Together we can beat AIDS.

UNITE FOR CHILDREN. UNITE AGAINST AIDS. It's time to draw the line.

In July 2007, the first comprehensive National Policy on Children and AIDS in India was launched.
